USDA's Food and Nutrition Service is charged with administering the Schools/Child Nutrition USDA Foods Programs. The Schools/Child Nutrition USDA Foods Programs support domestic nutrition programs and American agricultural producers through purchases of domestic agricultural products for use in schools and institutions. Nutritious USDA-purchased food is provided through the National School Lunch Program, Child and Adult Care Program, and the Summer Food Service Program.
Who is Eligible to Apply:
Public and non-profit private schools participating in the National School Lunch Program, institutions participating in the Child and Adult Care Program, and sponsors participating in the Summer Food Service Program.
Amount of Funds Available:
National School Lunch Program participants and Summer Food Service Program participants receive funding through receipt of USDA Foods. Child and Adult Care Food Program participants in Wisconsin are paid cash-in-lieu of the USDA Foods. The value of USDA Foods/cash funding received by eligible participants varies from year to year based on an annual adjustment which reflects changes in the Price Index of Foods used in schools and institutions.
